Why do they put athletes on product endorsements? On billboards? On TV commercials? ON THE WHEATIES BOX?! Because the people that are struggling to find time for a 5k jog or are sick of sharing a sweaty bench with the bicep curl guy who makes eye contact with himself in the gym mirror NEED some inspiration, tips, & direction. BUT…sometimes money talks louder than good, authentic advice. Getting your face up on that billboard wasn’t a charitable act after all.

It was this very concept that inspired me, a California born endurance athlete traveling the world to compete in triathlon, trail running, & swimrun races, to create a resource for those people who crave honest, athlete-tested recommendations regarding travel & competitions. Start to finish.

WHERE TO EAT

I know from personal experience that finding foods that match an athlete’s diet can be a bigger challenge than the race itself. There is nothing like the pure panic that sets in the night before a big race when you realize you have no idea where to find your pre-race pasta and three slices of toast. Additionally, I think we might all get a little sick of eating french fries or over-salted snacks while traveling. I myself had to live off of gas station hot dogs (pølse) and candy for a day while traveling across Norway via bus. Sometimes you just eat what is there. But with a Destination Trilife Travel Guide at your disposal, HOPEFULLY you can eat a few less hot dogs and a few more healthy, fun meals.

WHERE TO play

‘Play’ is a very intentional word. Adults need it just as much as kids. Due to the inherent stress of traveling for endurance events, athletes in particular can benefit from finding new and adventurous ways to play while preparing for destination races. Destination Trilife likes to include a few excursions, attractions, or fun fitness activities for not just the athlete but any travel companions as well. Keep an eye out for labels marking these as “family-friendly” or “adults only.”
