Clever Outdoor Items For Your Summer Packing List

With better weather, freer travel, and more outdoor events opening up this summer, we knew we needed to find versatile items that go where you go. On our list you will find items that check all the boxes: lightweight, reusable, planet-friendly, and multipurpose. We are also sharing a sneak peak of the Aldri Sur Summer/Fall collection (dropping early August). Without further adieu, here is an unusual (but EXTREMELY useful) packing list of our favorite items for your outdoor summer adventures.

TURKOPP

Turkopp is Norwegian for trail/hiking mug. A common item in Scandinavian households, this turkopp is versatile, portable, and eco-friendly. Great for hot and cold drinks (may we suggest a whiskey hot chocolate by a campfire) and use the handy carabiner clip to attach to your backpack for easy transport.

If you are heading into the outdoors to overnight camp, this wash is great to leave minimal impact on our beautiful, wild planet. Wilderness Wash is a biodegradable wash that you can use for shampoo, body wash, dish soap, and clothing detergent. Its minimal, clean ingredients won’t pollute water eco systems and it packs nicely in all sizes of travel packs. Wilderness Wash comes in a variety of “types” (the citronella variety is pictured here).

Flip Flops

Most may think that flops are for the beach. But a trail runner / hiker / camper’s best kept secret is keeping a pair of flip flops on hand for changing into after your feet did the hard work in your trail shoes/hiking boots. We LOVE the Oofos Recovery Sandals for the arch support and extra cushion. It is nice to feel like you are walking on clouds after you walk on rocks LOL.

Microfiber Towel

To be honest, you can get a microfiber towel pretty much anywhere. Amazon sellers have dominated the space with cheap, basic color options in a variety of sizes. If you are on a super tight budget, I do not judge you for going that route. However, if you are looking for a unique product that is durable, sand resistant (cool!), and made from recycled plastic bottles, check out the National Parks line of towels by Nomadix. You can buy directly from their website or find them at REI. And the slight price increase is nominal when compared to the variety of amazing patterns you can choose from. They pack down small too!
