When I saw that Odwalla® was making a smoothie with ZERO SUGAR, I kind of cried. Good cry. Not an ugly cry. A pretty cry…..ok. I remember growing up with the brand Odwalla. I always saw them in the beverage displays at my local grocery store (in NorCal, we called it Safeway but down here in the good ol’ south of California we call it VONS). The thing I loved most about them as a child was how bright and colorful the bottles were. It seemed only magic could be inside. But as an adult, it is really important to me to limit that extra sugar in my diet where I can. So hip hip hooray, Odwalla has made my day. The NEW Odwalla Zero Sugar Smoothie® in dark choco-berry flavor is singing a sweet song to both childhood Katie and adult Katie. I get to drink out of that bottle I always loved and enjoy the “adult benefits”: keto friendly, good source of protein, ZERO SUGAR, gluten free, vegan, & only 100-110 calories per bottle. (Wow, can I date this smoothie? Better than half the guys in LA…..)

To make this smoothie EVEN BETTER, I experimented a little with adding in extra protein to it after coming home from a training tempo run. If you have a shaker bottle at home, that works great. I mixed one scoop of my favorite protein powder with one bottle of Odwalla Zero Sugar Smoothie® in dark choco-berry flavor and shook it like it was a bag of trail mix stuck in a vending machine LOL. Overall, the taste is good. It was obvious to me that there was no sugar in this beverage, but that is not a bad thing. And if you are craving something sweet, I wouldn’t suggest making your protein smoothies that thing. You can find these smoothies at a Vons near you. I like using the Vons App (pictured below) to look up groceries and sweet coupon deals before I shop. Now if you will please excuse me, I have to go call my parents and tell them that Odwalla adopted me finally. Also please excuse the ab shot LOL.
